Manu was a humble clerk at Ajmer Jail under British Rule when he had the chance encounter with Mahatma Gandhi who spoke about Non-Cooperation Movement and deeply influenced Manu, who next day proceeded to resign from his job under British Government, despite being the sole bread winner for his family of 9 children and that of his brother's with equally large number.
